War 2 Movie Review
Introduction
War 2 is the latest entry in YRF’s expanding spy universe, directed by Ayan Mukerji. The film brings together two major stars, Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, with Kiara Advani playing the female lead. Much like its predecessor, the movie promises large-scale action, international locations, and high-voltage drama. But does it balance spectacle with storytelling?
Storyline
Set five years after the first film, the story follows Kabir (Hrithik Roshan), who is believed to have turned into a rogue mercenary. In reality, he is still working undercover to dismantle a dangerous syndicate called Kali. Things get complicated when he is forced into situations that make him appear like a traitor, even targeting his former mentor, Colonel Luthra.
Enter Vikram (Jr NTR), an intelligence officer whose mission clashes with Kabir’s. Their paths collide across continents—from Yemen to Spain—leading to fierce battles, mistrust, and eventual teamwork against a common enemy. The climax teases bigger threats in the spy universe, leaving room for future films.
Performances
Hrithik Roshan
Hrithik once again dominates the screen with his charisma and agility. His action sequences are top-notch, and he manages to bring intensity to Kabir’s complex persona.
Jr NTR
Making his Hindi film debut, Jr NTR brings power and emotion to Vikram. His stunts and screen presence stand tall alongside Hrithik, though his character sometimes feels underwritten.
Kiara Advani
As Wing Commander Kavya Luthra, Kiara looks confident but her role is limited. She adds glamour and emotional depth in parts but doesn’t get the space her talent deserves.
Supporting Cast
Ashutosh Rana and Anil Kapoor lend credibility and weight to the story, grounding the otherwise larger-than-life action.
Action and Visuals
The film thrives on action. From train chases to aerial combat and icy mountain fights, War 2 is designed as a cinematic spectacle. Some sequences, like the Spain car chase, stand out as thrilling. However, the heavy reliance on CGI sometimes weakens the impact, as a few visuals appear video-game-like.
Final Verdict
War 2 is a stylish, adrenaline-packed entertainer that works best if you’re here for action, stunts, and star power. While the plot is uneven, the performances and scale make it worth watching on the big screen. Fans of Hrithik and Jr NTR will not be disappointed, but those looking for a tight spy thriller may find it lacking.
